When Does Ovulation Occur After An Induced Abortion?
Question: Hi, I had a medical abortion on May 28 at around 6 weeks gestation. I didn't want to, but I had to. Anyway, I am on cycle day 5 and still bleeding. This is my first period since the abortion. I had sex with my partner on cycle day 3 and on cycle day 5. Last time I got pregnant I only had sex once and the sex was exactly on cycle day 14. How likely is it for me to get pregnant on cycle day 3 and 5 while on my period? I know I normally ovulate around CD 14 to 16. I have just always heard your ovulation is all over the place after a miscarriage or abortion. I just can't do this again. Pregnancy is unhealthy for me, I can't take birth control because of high blood pressure. I just need to know if there is a chance I could be ovulating? Or ovulate way sooner than normal?

It is true that the first ovulation after abortion cannot be predicted. But in your case the first ovulation is over and you are already having your period. Please note that the first week of period cycle is safe. There is no possibility of ovulation during this time. Having sex during this time does not result in pregnancy. So there is no chance of pregnancy by having sex on day 3 and 5 of period cycle.

Well, I did feel like I ovulated a little over 2 weeks ago. I always have ovulation pain and I had horrible pain around my right ovary. I wasn't sure if if you ovulated before your first period or after it after an abortion. So, you do ovulate before your period starts after abortion?
