When To Take Medication To Postpone Menstruation?
Question: my delivery was on sep26. after that period s not regular. i got my periods on dec01, XXXXXXX 05(36th day), feb 10(37th day),mar 11(30th day). my next period should not happen on april 16-19. i guess my ovulation started by mar 25 since i got white color dischargee from vagina. if i wont get my next period until april 15(36th day) i am planning to have tablet to postpone period.36th day is too late? i dont want to take tablet unnecessarily since there is chance to happen it before april16 naturally . my doubt is if i wont get period by april 15 , i am planning to take tablet . is that too late? usually how many days prior to expected date,we should have tablet?
Brief Answer:
at least 3 days prior to expected periods
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes you are absolutely right that in case you take tablet on 15th April that will be too late to take tablets for postponement.
For best results postpone tablet should be taken at least 3 days prior to the expected periods (according to the shortest cycle in past 6 months.
So you will probably get your periods around 9th April and thus no need to postponement and rather you will be free by 15 the April.
In case you have any questions about it, I will be glad to answer.

i should take tablet or should not?
Brief Answer:
no need to take tablets
Detailed Answer:
In case you have work after 15th April then no need to take tablet because you will get free before 15 April.
Because to postpone the periods you will have to take tablets from 6th April till the date you want to postpone periods.

Brief Answer:
yes same tablet can do different functions
Detailed Answer:
In case your periods (suppose) are scheduled on 38th day viz April 17 or 18th and you start pills on 16 April then there will be no much effect of pill on stopping your period and rather can make erratic flow pattern because of the pill.
Yes this is the funniest thing about progesterone that it is given in so many problems related to periods in so many combinations that many patients feel like you that how can same drug do different actions.
So in case you want to postpone periods take it twice a day till the day you want to postpone.
And for advancing your periods take it thrice a day for 3 days and on stopping it you will get your periods well before 16 April.
All the best
