Which Foods Are Safe To Give To A Three Year Old Who Is Allergic To Yellow Food Dye, Dairy Products ?
Thanks for posting your query. I can understand your dilemma for the diet that you can give to your child.
First of all, since your child is having milk allergy, check out for any products that contain lactalbumin, lactglobulin, casein or lactulose. You need to avoid any products (creams, custards, margarines) containing these for your child. Some people are allergic to just one of the milk proteins, whilst the majority are allergic to several. These proteins may be found in other foods also. Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also. So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomenon is called cross reactivity.
In order to determine accurately the food allergens to which your child is allergic you need to get him allergy tested by skin and blood tests like RAST.
Since dairy products are XXXXXXX souces of calcium and vitamin D, so to compensate for them give foods XXXXXXX in these nutrients, such as broccoli, spinach and soy products. Broccoli may cause acid reflux. So give in moderation.
You can give your child fresh fruits and vegetables and meat and fish products which are excellent source of proteins and vitamins. Since he has acid reflux, chocolates, junk food, spicy or greasy foods and citric acid juices should be avoided. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before he lies down. Give him light meals like soups, clear soups and fish at night.
Hope this answers your query.
