Which One Of Monofocal Or Multifocal Lenses Should I Opt For Cataract Surgery?

Question: I need to choose between multifocal or Alcon monofocal IOL for my cataract surgery. He said I had a choice but he was favouring the mono. My mother did have macular degeneration but he said I have no sign of this and my eyes were very healthy.
How soon after surgery can I swim laps , do fitness/weights classes and have treatment from a chiropractor.
How long do the lenses last. Will I ever have to be redone?

Brief Answer:
choice between mono and multifocal iol after cataract surgery.
Detailed Answer:
You should have informed about status of the other eye. I agree with surgeon of opting for monofocal. If other eye is manageble then you can have near vision correction for both. When other eye develops cataract you can opt for nevision IOL. So you can use one eye for near vision and the other eye for distant vision. This is a suggestion or you can go for monofocal IOL and bifocal correction for both. Now you can opt for one eye monofocal IOL. After fortnight you can go for sweeming. The lens is for life time and no need of change.

Brief Answer:
preferance of multifocal or monofocal iol in cataract surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Monofocal IOL acceptance for patient is good. Multifocal adjustment during surgery may be problematic. so it is generally advisable for monofocal it is a short of counselling.
chiropracctor is a cervical manipulation. it can set in cardiac problem, may effect your post operative eye. it is to be informed to manipulator to take precaution.
In principle in cataract surgery one eye is done at a time and a time gaps given for second eye. Result of first eye surgery is studied. In case of complication due care is taken for second eye. you can discuss this aspect with surgeon. for cervical manipulation you have to consult your eye surgeon.
