Brief Answer:
Fentanyl Transdermal Patches
Detailed Answer:
Hi. To the point, Fentanyl, especially in the form of a transdermal patch would be my choice for chronic pain relief. That having been said. There are other options, from physical therapy to the implantation of a subcutaneous pain pump.
The thing you've got to remember when it comes to all of these narcotic medications, is that they tend to wear off with time. You need higher and higher doses as time goes by. So if there is anyway that we can address the problem and minimize the NEED for pain meds, or target the meds more effectively, we could manage your issue without drowning you in narcotics.
Are you sure these issues can't be managed without the pain meds? Have these herniations been seen by a spine surgeon? Has any discussion of a spine decompression been had?
I'm not saying that you need surgery or anything. I am just curious and I want to make sure that all your options have been made clear.
I hope this helps. I look forward to your reply
