Whom To Consult When A Patient Is Suffering From Anal Skin Tag?
Question: What kind of doctor would be best to go see if I have an anal skin tag that is causing complications? And could it be a sign of cancer?
Brief Answer:
a gastroenterologist probably
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
it depends on what the cause of this skin tag is. If it's an external hemorrhoid then a gastroenterologist may identify it, advise you properly and perhaps refer you to a general surgeon for surgical treatment if the conservative measures fail to provide relief.
If it's a wart then a dermatologist would be the most appropriate specialist to cope with it.
Although I haven't seen it, it's unlikely to be a sign of cancer. The most likely cause is hemorrhoids.
Kind Regards!
