Will Sunbathing Or UV Light Help Skin Rash Clear Up?
Question: I have a skin rash that might be scabies... will sunbathing or uv light help clear it up?
Brief Answer:
hi and welcome to hcm
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query. If this is scabies then sunlight or uv wont kill it. It may help for itchying but the cause wont be cured. If this is some other dermatologic disease then uv may be beneficial, but for scabies you should use special oitments, baths and clean your clothes and textile in house. wish you good health.regards

could it be an allergic reaction to flea pesticides that appears as a rash on abdomine around waist and on back and on thighs starting at the outside? could this allergic reaction to the pesticides seem to appear similar to scabies? and.... are scabies in humans caught from contact with pets like cats especially when the cats show no hot spots or hair loss or intense itching??? Are human scabies the same as animal scabies?
Brief Answer:
hi
Detailed Answer:
Yes it could be allergy reaction or skin irritation due to pesticides definitely. Trt to avoid it in future. It would have similar symptoms to scabies.generally animal scabies cant affect humans since this is different type of parasite. So if this is scabies, you got it from another person or his clothes.

now... if you are still with me and following my web research... (I do have an appointment with the dermatologist but not until Friday 7/11) .... Anywho...
I have been to two general practitioners and neither one did a biopsy and definite diagnosis of scabies. I live alone. I do not have contact - intimate or other - with other persons. So I find it impossible to believe that I have contracted scabies from another human that has it. I have spent hours over the previous two to three weeks on the internet looking at images of skin rash and trying to see one that looks like what I have. Finally, just last night, I stumbled on a clue/thread about how people with Hashimoto's (like me) can have a skin rash due to gluten allergy. It is called dermatitis herpetiforms and some (not all) of the images that I have looked at seem to be rashes like what I have. Also, the treatment is dapsone or sulfapyridine therapy and stop injesting foods containing wheat, barley, or rye. so........I do not want to endure weeks, months, years, whatever like some people claim to have when reading the threads concerning scabies rash..... I want an answer and remedy now. ...... Thank you for answering my questions.... I know I am persistent .... but this itch/rash is so persistent that I am obsessed with it. It is funny how it does not seem to bother me as much when I am outside doing yardwork projects in 92 degree weather sweating... it is at its worst when I lie down and try to nap/sleep. So............ tell me what you know about dermatitis herpetiform associated with Hashimoto's............

Detailed Answer:
Dermatitis herpetiformis can be related to HS and other autoimmune disease. It is seen more at the beginning of hashimoto and in middle aged people. It is manifested with fluid filled blisters mostly on neck, back, elbows and knees. It can be misdiagnosed with scabies and other types of dermatitis and skin rash and clinical signs are in most cases nonspecific so diagnosis must be confirmed by skin biopsy. You should absolutely not take dapson or similar medicines without confirnation of diagnosis. it would be smarter to have gluten free diet first and see what happens. Also, you should check iga in blood which could tell you is this allergy type rash or not. After this,it can be cured with appropriate medicines. but still, biopsy is the only 100% accurate method.
