Question: I now have my second ureter stint. What would happen if lithotripsy were performed now or the whole stones started moving down themselves?

Brief Answer:
Read detail answer bellow.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have multiple stones in kidney and D.J stent has been placed in Ureter prior to Lithotripsy.
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) What is the location of stones ?
2) How many stones are there and what is the size of the stones reported on Scanning or X-Ray?

Normally small stone below the size of 5mm can pass down through ureter after putting the stent.

Putting a stent in Ureter causes passive dilatation of ureter making it wider .

During Lithotripsy stones are fragmented in smaller particles so that they can pass through without pain through this dilated ureter.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you for your answer. The passive dilation answer helped a lot. I have not seen the pictures as to where they are located or the size. I'm just looking at options. This past surgery recovery has been very slow and painful and may have to wait as much as 6 weeks to get following surgery. Me Dr. said depending on the biopsy results, it might be necessary to remove the kidney. I know I can survive ok on one kidney. The teaching hospital (no charge to me) does not have a lithotripsy machine. I would have to go elsewhere. My Dr. is almost impossible to reach until Dec. 18. I will try again on Friday. Any other thoughts? I wouldn't want to try natural treatments to get them loose without knowing what I was getting into, right?

Sorry, Yes. 2 mos ago for bladder cancer (determined later to be low grade) and was given a stint at that time.(for hyronephrosis) Follow up surgery 1 week ago was to go up into the ureter to zap stones in ureter (some in ureter but some more in kidney?) The instrument would not go up. He took 5 biopsies. That was all that was accomplished last surgery. I do have three reports that I have uploaded. Hope this helps. If I need to pay again, as long as you are game, I will.

Brief Answer:
You have Cancer of the bladder with involvement of ureter.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for detailing and posting reports .

Basedon the reports that you have posted ,you have cancer of the bladder and biopsy of the bladder has been taken and sent for histo pathilogical examination and grading of the tumor.

You have stones in Lt kidney and Hydronephrosis that is reported on left side is due to involvement of lower part of ureter with cancer of the bladder causing obstruction to flow of urine from Kidney down into bladder(Hydronephrosis).

Now with stent in place the Lt ureter is fully dilated so that Urologist can pass the endoscopes (URS)through ureter and fragment the stone located in kidney.or stone fragmented by lithotripsy (ESWL)will help to pass fragments of stone down without pain.

Please go ahead and get the endoscopic fragmentation(URS) or Lithotripsy(ESWL) done .

Please do write if you have any more questions.
Thanks and Regards.
