Brief Answer:
Details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Hydronephrosis is a condition where there is enlargement of kidney which may or may not accompanied with deranged renal function test.
Dilated renal pelvis and thinned out cortex suggests that the Hydronephrosis is severe.
Hydronephrosis can be due to any obstruction below the kidney leading to inadequate drainage of urine or due to reflux from the bladder due to incompetent valve.
As there is involvement of only one side of kidney it suggests that the problem is above the bladder.
Presence of Hydronephrosis at this age suggests that it can be due to kidney being affected in utero.
I would request you to attach the report of ultrasound and kidney fiction test if done so that I better able to help you out.

Regards
