10 Month Baby, Minimal Nose Bleeding After Rolling Off Bed. Acting Normally. Anything To Worry?
10 month old rolled off of his bed. Cried for 5 min then returned to normal play, eyes tracking normal, pupils dilating and returning normally in light/dark, had minimal amount of blood from R nostril (only needed 4 dabs over 5 min period). Has been acting and responding normally. No bruising or other signs of injury. Should I be worried about the small amount of nose bleed even though it stopped so quickly? Thanks
I'm sure he is fine and a little nose bleed is to be expected. As a rule, kids who hit their heads but do NOT lose consciousness, cry for a short period of time and then act ok are not at risk for any type of brain injury or even a skull fracture. As long as he acts ok the rest of the day you need not worry.
On the whole, after reading the history written by you, I feel confident that your child is all right and won't need an urgent referral or check up by a specialist. However, having said that, I still feel that he should be seen by a pediatrician within 24 hours, just to rule out any problem.
