10 Week Old Child, Ggt 103, Alt 74, Bilirubin 9. Normal Abdominal Ultrasound. Suggestions?

Hi, my ten week old baby has a ggt of 103 and an ALT of 74. Unfortunately I don't know the rest of his liver function results. His bilirubin was 20 until one week ago and is now 9. He had a normal abdo ultrasound and is otherwise well. Do you have any idea what this could be as the hospital have simply repeated bloods six times to get the same result. Thank you.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The GGT is slightly higher for baby age.

The bilirubin of 9 is higher as per the baby's age but the type of bilirubin like conjugated or unconjugated will give more information regarding the cause for its elevation.

ALT looks normal in range.

Further investigations are required like thyroid profile, nuclear scan if there is high conjugated bilirubin, tests to detect any hemolysis.

Therefore consult the pediatrician for the interpretation of the tests and for further investigations.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
