10 Weeks Pregnant. Is Vitilligo Heredity?

Hallo! I am a healthy 26 years old lady and 10 weeks pregnant. My husband s mother has vitilligo (skin depigmentation ) and his grandma (my husband s father s mother) also had that disease . I have noticed a little white patch around my husband s mouth. Members of my in laws family are very much susceptible to cold and they frequently get cough and dust allergy . Now I am worried for my coming baby. What is the probability of my baby to be healthy? Will he/she be free of vitilligo? please help me. Sabrina

Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
It is autosomal dominant , meaning 50% chance in next generation.
Allergy is totally different, it is precipitated by environment and other factors including genetics.
Do not worry, allergies can be prevented and treated easily but its difficult to predict if your daughter would get it.
Hope I answered your query.
Would be glad to help you further.
Regards
Dr Arun
