Hi Laura, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
Does he have any swelling in the concerned area or nausea or vomiting? If there is swelling, does it increase in size or pain aggravated when he coughs or cries? Your History suggests, you kid has a Inguinal Hernia, which is usually a sac formed by the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum). It occurs in children if they have a weak abdominal wall. But, it has to be confirmed first? Kindly get him examined by a Urologist. Once confirmed, the treatment depends upon the cause as there are various causes to it also. He will require analgesics if there is nothing serious.
I Wish him Good Health, Take Care.
