My son is 11 month old. He has been suffering for fever for almost a month. Basically, he first suffered fever earlier of this month which continue for almost a week and according to the doctor that causes due to palmonary infection in lungs. That s why he was given antibiotic . After that, he was OK for a week. But his fever again recurred earlier in the last week and it was lasted for only 1 day. We also noticed that his body was getting temperature in the late night and it happened for 1/2 days. Finally, he again affected with fever yesterday morning. We are giving him paracetamol . He did not get recovered yet. Fever is recurring in almost every 4-5 hours. Can you please suggest us what to do?

Pediatrician, Neonatology 's  Response
Hi
Only thing I could suggest is to get him thoroughly examined by Pediatrician and do laboratory investigations if he/she suggest.

Fever in this age group have multiple causes. Infections in- respiratory, urinary, gastrointestinal systems are common. Other causes are - Sepsis, malaria, typhoid, dengue etc.

Investigations like - Blood for Blood count (CBC), C-reactive Protein (CRP), Blood culture & sensitivity for suspected sepsis, Malaria parasite and antigen, Dengue antigen and antibody, WIDAL test for typhoid and paratyphoid, Urine for RE,ME & C/S, Stool RE,ME, Chest X-ray etc may be necessary to reach diagnosis as suggested by clinical examination.

Clinical examination is the first and most important thing for diagnosis and treatment.

So, get your child visited by Pediatrician and do whatever he advise.

Pediatrician Dr. Sudha Shree Venkataraman's  Response
hi

What are the other symptoms your son has along with fever? cold, cough, skin rash, vomiting, loose stools, urinary problems?
How is his activity and food intake?
And what was the temperature?
Did you have any investigations done like complete blood count, CRP, Urine microscopy?
It might be 2 different episodes.
So have him examined in detail by a Pediatrician and have basic investigations done to find out the cause.
Hope you find my answer helpful.
