I have query on viral encephalitis 12 yr girl is in PICU undergoing treatment for getting constant convulsions Medicines given rt now: Falcigo - Malaria Emigo - nausia and vomiting Lavera - Anticonvulgent medication used to treat epilepsy DOXY-1 : infection AXovir - HSV 2 ( herpes simplex virus ) - used to treat infections caused by viruses Gardenal - anticonvulgent ( high dose) MRI, Lumber puncture ( water sample from back) and blood tests done - all negative/normal
Patient under consideration is being treated for presumed diagnosis of encephalitis and investigations have not supported any diagnosis. She is being treated presumptively with antimalarial treatment and antiviral treatment. Additionally convulsions must be controlled and high dosage may be needed. Treating doctor may consider additional drugs convulsions are not controlled
