14 Month Baby, Rashes On Mouth, Lip, Face, Spreading. Eczema?
my 14 month old son developed rashes around his mouth and lip, within 48 hrs he developed rashes on his face and upper body and a day after it reached his penis also. It is red in colour. the rashes around his neck and shoulder had white bumps, rest of the body including the mouth area was red and inflammed. he is not itching any part of his body. What is it, is it eczema? It all started three days back, on august 1.
It is very unlikely to be a case of Eczema. It could be a drug rash or an insect-bite allergy or a simple urticaria. White bumps near shoulder favors an insect bite allergy.
Urticaria may be due to dietary factor or due to a contact with some plants or leaves or even sand.
Antihistamine syrup and an application of calamine lotion will cure the problem within few days. In severe cases steroids by oral route or through injections may need. If the rashes associated with fever then you have to think of viral fever like measles. If you consult your physician he will be able to treat the same easily. Get your child well soon. Dr S.Murugan
