14 Year Old Having Blocked Nose, Chest Congestion, Wheezing. Not Responding To Ventorlin Syrup. Need Instruction On Dosage For Relent Syrup
Hi, my son is 14 yrs old, wt. 49 kgs. He has blocked nose and he feels constriction in the middle of his chest ..He gets weezing sometimes.. I gave him ventorlin syrup(5 ml) today morning but he did not find it that effective..Can I give him relent syrup(60ml) for his cold? (blocked nose). If so, pls advice the dosage for relent syrup and as well as ventorlin syrup.. Thankyou.
Hi Saralaman,
Thanks for writing your query.
Ventrolin syrup contains Albuterol /Salbutamol which is a bronchodilator. Its usual dose is 2mg three to four times a day.
Relent syrup contains cetrizine and ambroxol. It will be not very useful for blocked nose. Instead you can use antiallergy with decongestant like phenylepherine or pseudoephedrine.
Use normal saline nasal drops instead. They donot have any side effects.
Steam inhalation will also help in clearing the blocked nose.
I hope this is useful to you.
Thanks.
The symptoms you describe may be associated with viral upper respiratory tract infection.
The line of treatment may include
Anti histaminics like cetirizine
Bronchodilators like salbutamol
Steam Inhalation with salty water.
Having said this you should consult your regular doctor for further evaluation and management.
