I am 16 wks pregnant with number 2. I have been having a lot of sickness, headaches , and a lot of bleeding and cramping. The bleeding comes and goes but when it comes its scary. I have been to the hospital 3 times and they say the baby is healthy but I just don t feel right when I wake up and I have blood coming out that looks like a period. thank you
Hello
Some women can have bleeding in early pregnancy. Sometimes it is due to an inflammation of the neck of the womb. It could be because of some bleeding behind the placental attachment to the uterus and you can have a brownish discharge for a long time, which is just the old blood coming out. On other occasions, women can have a low lying placenta, which can again cause bleeding. Sometimes, no cause can be found, yet, women can carry on bleeding throughout their pregnancy.
Unfortunately, the doctor can not do much about the bleeding. They will keep a close eye on you and baby and monitor growth of baby with frequent scans. On many occasions the bleeding settles down after 20-24 weeks.
Best wishes.
