16 Year Old, Low BP, Tired, Frequent Urination, Stomach Pain After Eating. Normal Result For Hypoglycemia, Mono. Any Ideas?
my daughter is 16 and her blood pressure has been really low lately. 120 over 35 or 40. we had her blood checked for diabetes, hypoglycemia, mono and everything came back normal. two weeks ago she was in er for dehydration. she complains about being tired, peeing a lot and stomach ache when she eats. do you have any idea what is going on?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. forum. I would come up with these possibilities for this kind of low blood pressure in so young patient , these includes. 1 Diabetes insipidus , diagnosis can be confirmed by M R I of pituitary gland .Diagnosis also can be confirmed by physical examination and laboratory test of urine volume in 24 hours. 2 Hypernatremia i.e. elevated level of sodium , may be the another cause . Diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for sodium and potassium .As all symptoms may be due to elevation of sodium. In my opinion all above mentioned symptoms are an indication of diabetes insipidus , so consult a neurologist and get his opinion for pituitary gland tumor. Good luck. Dr, HET
