18 Month Child, Suffering From Tonsillitis, Gum Red In Color, Not Having Food. Taking Ibuprofen. Recommendations?
hi ... my child is 18 month .. 4 days ago he suffered from acute tonsilittis .. it wasn't the 1st time .. so i gave him zithromax for 3 days and ibuprufine till today ... he becomes well and the temperature is down .. but today he returned to be fevered again .. and i noticed gum reddenish especially around the anterior incisors .. he refuses to eat or drink ,, please what is my next step .. thanks

Recurrent tonsillitis is common at this age in children .The treatment you gived to your child is right, but infection is still persistent and has spread to adjoining structures, may have caused pharyngitis (infection of throat) and gingivitis (infection of gums).Get him examined by an ENT surgeon who may suggest you to go for tonsiliectomy,as for recurrent tonsillitis , ultimate treatment is tonsillectomy .Addation to antibiotics and ibuprofen ,he also needs antihistaminic and decongestant. Hi Thanks for your query. Your child is having recurring tonsillitis so I suggest you to get him examined by a pediatrician or ENT specialist. As you mentioned after antibiotic his fever has has returned so the infection is still persisting and he may require another course of antibiotic. In the meantime give him plenty of fluids.so as to maintain hydration. Give paracetamol for fever.
