What Causes Swelling Inside Mouth Despite Taking Ibuprofen For Tonsillitis?

I was diagnosed with tonsillitis three days ago. This is my 7th time having it over the past year, and although I should have them removed, work and other extenuating circumstances won't allow me to at this time. I've been on a Z-PACK for 3 days so far and don't feel like my tonsillitis are shrinking in size, but I feel like the roof of my mouth is also swollen. What should I do? I've been taking ibuprofen to reduce the swollen glands but nothing seem to be working.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have got a bacterial throat infection leading to Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis and the swelling of the roof of mouth is also due to infection causing inflammation..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of Bacterial infection you will be advised to continue taking Z-Pak that contains active ingredient Azithromycin..
You should also take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and swelling..
You should also do warm saline gargles..
You can suck throat lozenges..
Avoid hot and spicy food..
You can take a soft diet and take ample of fluids..
You can also do steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
Chew Vitamin C pellet as it helps in improving immunity..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
