2 Daughters, Sore Throat, Headache, Swollen Glands. Virus Infection?

My 13 and 10 year old daughters have been sick with horribly bad sore throats and headaches with 101-102 temps. they are no longer running fevers and headaches and sore throat are not near as bad.Today I noticed that both girls have very swollen glands on both sides of neck and under jaws, front of necks. is this something I should have them see a doctor for? It seems everytime I take any of our five children to doc we get told " It's viral, go home and push fluids, and get plenty of rest." "Come back if temp is 105!"

Pediatrician 's  Response
hi Dear

Welcome to the platform of Health Care Magic,

Both the girls are having inflamed and enlarged sub mandibular lymphnodes. Infection is quite probable, could be viral or bacterial.

Have a consultation with ENT surgeon to rule out any bacterial etiology. He may advice you to take anti inflammatory drugs and if necessary some relevant antibiotic also. Antiseptic gargles to be used for cleaning the throat .

Hope the query is answered.

Thanks
