2 Year Old, Cold And Cough. Taken Medication, No Improvement. Recommendations?
hello sir, my daughter is 2 yrs old.her weight is 11 kgs.Some 15 days ago,she caught cold and cough.She was prescribed for Amoxicillin and Potassium clavulanate,for cold Paracetamol,chlorpheniramine maleate,phenylephrine hcl and for cough syrupterbutaline sulphate,bromhexine hcl,guaiphensin syrup.She was o.k. after 5 days consumption of medicine.On wednesday she caught fever,cough and cold again.I gave her same antibiotic and cough syrup and for fever malfenac and paracetamol.In 3 days ,she is not improved.What should i do now?

thanks for posting query .
for cough and cold the medication given are perfectly ok .
1. if u have given the 5 days course of antibiotic don't repeat this if not necessary .
2 . u should consult your doctor .
3 . for fever only u can give paracetamol with advised doses .
4 . go with steam inhalation .
5 . don't repeat other medication .
6 . wait for 2-3 days usually it takes time of 7-10 days to recover .
7 . continue proper feeding .
8 . if not get well even than go for blood test and consult with doctor .

is your child taking oral feeds normally and passing stool and urine.if these are ok thn you can wait for 1-2 days but not more thn that.sometimes viral infection ( which is most common in this age group ) can take 4-5 days to get cured.but if she has any other symptoms and not active and not taking feeds properly thn have her checked properly.she might thn need a medicine change.
