2 Year Old With Severe Eczema. Tried Antihistamines. Itchy Raw Patches On The Arms, Knees. Immediate Cure?
My 2 year old granddaugter has been diagnosed with severe eczema. We haverecently tried prescribed antihistamines in the morning and at bedtime. We have tried every prescribed topical medicine that Medicare with pay for. She now has RAW areas on her arms, hands, feet, knees, and below her buttocks, because she scratches so badly...she makes it bleed. What can I do immedately to help?
Eczema is a general term that applies to inflammation of the skin. There are a handful of conditions that cause eczema each with its own specific or at least some specific drugs. Some drugs used for other types rather aggravate others or have no effect on the other.
Thus, accurate diagnosis of skin conditions is essential. Itch in the cited regions you talk about could be due to scabies. Itch due to scabies is usually very intense in the night and usually affects more than one person in the house. Scabies are treated with benzyl benzoate ( ascabiol ), or other drugs.
Following the above, it would be necessary to see a dermatologist for accurate diagnosis and for appropriate treatment.
