2 Yr Old Doesn't Eat Anything, Still Bloated, Sore Stomach. Worried ?
My son is 25months and does not eat hardly anything but yet his tummy is really bloated/swollen he looks like he is pregnant,He complains of a sore stomach ALOT and grabs his tummy when sore. He has been for blood tests,a xray and has just had a ultrasound done and the lady doing it had asked me if he had eaten anything because his stomach was so big but he hadn t eaten anything all day only drunk. should i be worried?
I would like a few questions answered first -
i) How long has the tummy been swollen , is it since he has a little baby or only recently
ii) How is his stooling pattern, does he pass stools everyday or is he constipated
iii) Has he had any vomiting at all, if so, what color was it, has it ever been green ?
The reason for these questions is - with the finding of a large stomach, there might be a partial block to the duodenum - called stenosis or it could be another condition called malrotation. Both these can be diagnosed with a contrast swallow - an xray where a dye will be given him to swallow and an xray will show if the passage is normal. If both these conditions are ruled out, then there is nothing to worry about. Even if, it is the above conditions, there are effective treatments available. Please revert with answers to the above questions.
