21 Year Old Alcoholic Diagnosed With Diabetes Type 1. Pain In The Back. Scan Reports Normal. What Is It?
My son is 25 yrs old. He is an alcoholic but hasn t drank in 4 months. We found out after several stays in the hospital that he has type 1 diabetes and is now insulin dependant. He goes though spells where he wake in the early hours of the morning with severe pain in the left side middle of his back. The pain is so bad that he screams. The doctors here have done xrays of his back and a cat scaan and they can t find anything. What could cause this to accur every night at the same time, usually lasting 3 or 4 hours.
Another complication from diabetes is nerve damage which could be the cause for the pain, since there seems to be no damage to the spine, make sure to include a multivitamin B-complex(with B6 and B12) in the diet since defficiencie of this vitamins occurs in alcoholism and causes nerve tear, so this may help reduce this sort of pain.
