25 Days Baby, Abnormal Bowel Movement. Used Glycerin Suppository For Inducing Bowel Movement
My newborn Son (25 days) almost never poops normally. he is always breastfed. he has pooped 9 times in 25 days Once it was normal, and on one of these occasions he was induced with glycerene suppository and on other occasions we used thermometer after he went 3-4 days without pooping. He has not pooped for the last 3 days. Please advise.
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. In infants pooping once in 3 to 4 days is normal in exclusively breast feed babies. If the stool is soft and there is no pain or discomfort while passing stool, nothing to worry. Usually no medication is required. But if the child is passing hard stools, then medication is needed. I suggest you to use prescribed medication. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
Hi Thanks for your query. It is normal for babies to pass several stools in a day or to pass it after some days. There is nothing to worry till feeding pattern is normal. I do not suggest repeated use of suppositories. Use of any other thing like thermometer is not recommended.
In case he is irritable or is not accepting feeding I suggest you to get him examined to rule out causes for constipation.
