29 Year Old Diagnosed With Breast Cancer. Malignant Tumors Found In The Brain. Not Responding To Chemotherapy. What Are The Options For Treatment?

A friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer . She developed tiny tumors which turned out to be malignant in her brain about a year after she was diagnosed with cancer. She recently was told that the chemo she was given was not working and she should look into hospice. She is only 29 years old. Is her cancer to far advanced to where a second opinion would not matter, or is there a possibility that there is still hope?

Dear Ma'am,

Sorry to hear about your friend. Metastatic breast cancer which does not respond to chemotherapy has a very bad prognosis and limited treatment options are available for such patients. The treatment options are mainly palliative and aim at reducing the pain and discomfort.
