3 Month Baby, Reducing Weight, Less Milk In One Breast. Reason For Losing Weight?
hi i have 12 weeks old baby, she was 4.8kg at 6 weeks but reduced to 4.6 kgs at 10 weeks..she is exclusively breast fed, the supply of milk from one breast is less due to surgery.she started to sleep for very long at night, some time 12 hours at a stretch, its impossible to wake and feed her..could this be the reason for her weight loss or cud it be less production..her stomach also flat..help plz
Hi,
Thanks for placing your query here.
I can understand your concerns..
In your daughter's case the reason of wt loss appears to be a combination of both ie less milk & prolonged gap at night.
It would be helpful to know;
Does she feel content after finishing her feed or appears to be still hungry if offered additional milk.
You can express some breast milk & check if she is eager to feed that after finishing with usual breast feed.
If she has less than 6 wet nappies per 24 hrs ,the reason is more likely less intake.
Also at this age do not allow a gap of over 6 hrs at night between feeds.
Also important is was she weighed on same or different scales.
It is best to compare weights on same scales & in minimum or no clothes & at same time in relation to feed (each time post feed or pre feed).
Please let me know wt check after 2 weeks again & then the issue can be discussed further.
Would be happy to help if you have further query.
Best regards.
