3 Months Pregnant, FNAC Procedure For Severe Pain On Left Upper Part Of Neck Shows Reactive Lympadenitis. What Is This ?

Hi, my wife is 30 yrs age and three months of pregnancy. She had undergone for FNAC procedure as she had severe pain on the left upper part of neck. Following is the details of report THE SMEARS SHOWS A POLYMORPHOUS POPULATION OF CELLS CONSISTING OF LYMPHOCYTES, PLASMA CELLS, REACTIVE FOLLICULAR CELLS, TINGIBLE BODY MACROPHAGES AND FEW MITOTIC FIGURES. NO EVIDENCE OF GRANULOMATOUS OR NEOPLASTIC PATHOLOGY SEEN. IMPRESSION: REACTIVE LYMPHADENITIS I wanted to check what exactly this is? and consuming antibiotics for this will have any adverse effect on my wife pregnancy. Please suggest

reactive lymphadenitis is nothing but swelling of the lymphnodes due to infection in and around the area where these lymphnodes are situated (the area where they drain),so lymnodes in the upper neck region can be due to some throat infection or chest infection or scalp infection or simple dandruff also sometimes,or it may be due to some autoimmune reaction which is activated due to pregnancy. start of with the antibiotic course as advised by your doctor keeping in mind the antibiotics safe during pregnancy.Mostly it should resolve with it ,if not then you need to go for further investigations to know the cause of it. Dont worry everything will be finr,TAke Care
