3 Year Old With Grey Stools After Taking Cow's Milk. Pain In The Abdomen While Urination. Chances Of UTI?
My 3 year old has been having light grey stools for the past week or so. She has not been eating any bananas or having copious amounts of cow s milk. She has not vomited at all, but she is complaining of a pain in her belly this morning. Since she mentioned the belly ache when she was peeing I thought she may have had a UTI , but the grey poop is making me think otherwise. Should I be concerned?
hello emily,
the light gray colour of stool is really a reason to get your child evaluated. few more question that need to be answered are whether she had fever during this period. what is the colour of her urine and her eyes, her appetite etc.
it may be some kind of hepatitis or something related to biliary tract. she will also need some blood investigations like Fiver function tests (AST, ALT, Serum Bilirubin (total and direct). follow his advices.
other than this she also needs to be examined by a pediatrician to come to a disgnosis. so kindly contact your pediatrician urgently and follow his advices.
thanks
amit
It does indeed sound like your daughter might have an urinary tract infection. UTI in young children usually manifests as change in bowel habits, pain abdomen, change in color & smell of urine and stool. Please get her urine tested for urinary infection with an urine examination (report available within a few hours) and an urine culture ( report in 3 days)
Please keep me informed about the reports. Please also revert about her urinary habit - how often she passes urine, how long does he hold it.
