Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
3 years ago I had a colonoscopy and am a 37 (almost 38) year old female. They also did a CT, etc. and decided I had IBS. Coffee seems to bother me so I feel mostly ok when I cut that out. A few weeks ago, I had an issue when I had an urgent soft stool (happens sometimes after I drink coffee and I had been drinking it again) but wasn’t by a bathroom. I had to run there after holding it in and there was blood after the stool came out and pink on the toilet paper. Never had blood before. After that, no more issues will bleeding. Called the doc, they did blood work and an anal exam and said to follow up with a gastro. Gastro said my last colonoscopy was 3 years so we could repeat it or we could wait and see since it was only the one time. So I waited. I was fine for 3 weeks and then just had the same thing happen again (urgent soft stool I held in with some blood at the end). Called and made the colonoscopy appointment. Also having some abdominal pain and gas now. Could holding the urgent stool put pressure down there and cause bleeding? Worried about something worse.
