hello, I am Bala (name changed) from Kottayam.I am 2/female.Now I have 30 teeth.I am getting my 3rd molar or wisdom tooth in the right lower jaw,not yet in left side. Some of my neighbors say that if i get a molar tooth growing alone(without the other one growing) it would finally get decay.I have some decay in my 2nd molars. How can I get rid of decay and will my new tooth also get decayed? How can i make my teeth white?
Hi,
A wisdom tooth usually erupts within 18-25 years of age. You are now 30 which is a delayed eruption. An Xray of the tooth should be taken to determine the actual position of the tooth. If there is lack of space or the tooth is tilted it will be impacted in the bone. A dentist can determine it and would suggest you to get the tooth removed surgically. The decayed teeth has be restored at the earliest and you should start using a fluoride mouth rinse (Phos flur) once daily. Avoid sugary snacks in between meals. Brush your teeth twice daily. Change your tooth brush once in 3 months. Scaling of teeth should be done once in 6 months. Visit your dentist once in 6 months to rule out any problems.
Hi, a third molar erupting on one side may be due to lack of space on the other side that could be blocking the erupton on that side. Please take the X ray of the side on which the molar is not erupting to see what the problem is. Either the tooth is missing or there is lack of space. It is a myth that a molar on one side will get decayed.Any tooth for that matter will not decay unless there is food lodgement for a long time. Please get a complete oral check up done and get your decaying second molars treated to save yourself from pain and discomfort later. Teeth whitening can be done at the dental office.
hello bala,
welcome to healthcare magic,
dont worry it isnt any rule that both wisdom tooth should erupt at same time and there is nothing to do with decay & eruption, it is how you maintain your oral hygiene determines decay!. get your decayed teeth treated accordingly as soon as possible by a dentist otherwise it will go deeper and cause pain. your teeth can be whitened by scaling or bleaching and many other procedures available. take care.
hello bala...wat all things ur neighbours told u is false...u will 3rd molar decay if the 2nd molar is decayed or due to food accumulation...go for filling of ur 2nd molar first, then wait for 3rd molar to erupt,if ur getting severe pain because of 3rd molar then go for extraction of 3rd molar,it is called impaction...

Hello,
It is a myth that a molar on one side will get decayed.Any tooth for that matter will not decay unless there is food lodgement for a long time. Get an OPG or xray done to confirm the condition of the missing toth on other side. Please get a complete oral check up done and get your decaying second molars treated to save yourself from pain and discomfort later.
take care...
A lonely molar tooth does not necessarily decay unless there is any infection. As you have a decay in your second molars, We would recommend that you get this examined by an Orthodontist for evaluation as you may require antibiotics and possible root canal therapy. Once the infection and the decay have been cured, there will be no problem in your third molar. As for whitening of teeth, you can ask your dentist to perform a cleaning procedure where the stains on the teeth are removed. Apart from these brush your teeth regularly, know the way to brush from the dentist. Have a dental check up regularly atleast once a year though you dont have any problem assosciated with your dentition. These will detect the early problem with teeth.
