Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear Sara,

Children less than five years of age do get repeated attacks of cough and cold. However, if you take care of his hygiene, and especially encourage frequent hand washing throughout the day, the frequency of his cough and cold episodes will definitely decline. There are several syrups for cough available in the market. However, the irrational ones that are found on the shelves in chemists' shops in India or Pakistan are not to be used. Try herbal cough remedies, or use Fenistil syrup if available in your country. Five ml thrice a day should be enough.
