4 Year Old, Rash On Face, Arms, Legs, Red At Times, Sore Lips. Taking Zirtek, Calpol. Suggestions?

My 4yr old son has a rash since Friday on his face , front, back arms and legs which flares up quite red at times and then calms down to nearly nothing again. He is in good form playing around as normal---or very close to normal.. This morning he is telling me the two corners of his mouth/liips are a little sore. I have been treating him with Zirtek and calpol since friday, Could he have measles.

Hi,

The rash of measles generally starts from behind the ears and then progresses downwards to the other parts of the body. The rash is preceded with fever , cold/cough and congested eyes.

In the case of your son the rash came at one time and disappears with Zyrtec (antihistamine)hence most likely he has some allergic rash.

The sores in the corner of the mouth could be due to Multivitamin deficiency.
You will have to get him evaluated again by his doctor for confirmation .In the meanwhile you could apply calamine lotion on the rash and some mouth gel which soothes his corners of the mouth.

Hope to have answered your query.
Take Care.
