4.5 Year Old Daughter, Suffering From Stomach Pain. Had Typhoid Recently. Occult Blood Test Positive. Advise?

Hi,
May daughter child(41/2yrs),has recently sufferd from typhoid(although got vaccine ca 2 yrs ago).Now complains tummy pain regularly,getting Losectil.But today got occult blood test POSITIVE for the 6th time in last 2 months.How serious is it.Pls advise us in your earliest convenience.Thanks.

i can feel your concerns

i want to know have your child completed the course of antibiotic.

i advise to deworm your child

yes,this is serious to have occult blood

i advise you to consult the doctor for proper clinical examination

she may need a few more investigations ike endoscopy

avoid spicy and junk food

give her milk, fruits and vegetables

give her plenty of fluids

i also advice you to check her haemoglobin level as she may be anaemic because of continuous blood loss

wishing her a speedy recovery

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Occult blood in the stool is because of bleeding in gut.

This is seen in upper gastrointestinal bleeding, hook worm infestation, allergic food such as milk allergy.

Typhoid vaccine is not 100 percent effective in preventing typhoid fever and its effectiveness is boosted by the booster dose at every three years.

Consult the pediatrician for the evaluation of the causes for occult blood in stool and give the complete antibiotic course for typhoid fever for your child.
