45 Years Old, Delayed Periods, Spotting. Negative Pregnancy Test. Causes For Delayed Periods?
My period was due to start four days ago. I began seeing streaks of blood on toilet paper, but never any on the pad. This went on for two days and then nothing. I am now showing no signs of my period. My husband had a vasectomy last year and went through all the test to show he is sterile. Just on the odd chance, I took a pregnancy test which showed I was not pregnant. I have normal periods approximately every 28 days, like clockwork. I m 45. Why would my period stop?
Hello,
Since you are 45 years old and pregnancy is negative, the most likely explanation could be the start of peri menopausal period in you.
This is a period when body gradually changes to menopause and there is gradual reduction in the production of female hormones like estrogen and progesterone.
This transitional period from peri menopause to menopause doesn't happen overnight and may take many years before finally periods stop.
Missing or irregular periods may be the first sign of this premenopausal period.
Other reasons for delayed periods are stress, depression, severe illness or excessive loss or gain of weight.
However you must consult a Gynecologist for proper evaluation and diagnosis of cause.
Thanks
