5 Month Kid, Constipation, Solid And Grayish Stool, Spitting Clear Fluid. Anything To Worry?

Hi, my daughter is almost 5 months old. She has been constipated (no bowel movements at all except for a greyish-green smear on her diaper) or 2 days. Today is day 3. She managed a bowel movement with considerable effort, but it was very solid and greyish. She has also been "spitting up/throwing up" a lot of clear fluid the past few days. My house reeks of stomach acid. Do I need to be concerned?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Is the child on exclusive breast feeds?

Constipation is uncommon in exclusively breast fed babies.

Spitting or throwing may be due to gastro esophageal reflux.

Burp the child after each feed.

For constipation you can give oral laxatives like lactulose in prescribed dosage.

She needs physical examination by the pediatrician.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
