5 Month Old Passing Greenish Stool, Gastric Problem, Just Started Formula Milk. Is It Diarrhea ?
I have a 5 month old baby. From yesterday he is passing greenish stool. 5 days back i have started giving him formula milk twice a day (30 ml quantity) apart from breastfeeding . he is having gastric problems and seems to have stomach ache while passing stools . he is suffering from cold as well is he suffering from diarrhea?
Many kids on formula feeds will pass green stools.
If frequency is not more than 3 times per day and its not liquid like, you need not worry.
But till 6 months of age exclusive breast milk is best for your baby. If mother takes care of her nourishment and takes adequate rest with adequate fluids, surely breast milk alone will be sufficient for the baby.
Yes kids on formula feeds will get frequent problems like this.
If his weight gain is adequate, try to continue him on breast milk alone till he is 6 months and slowly start adding semisolid food, rice based porridges, mashed vegetables, fruits, soups etc.
Hope you find my answer useful.
