I found yesterday that Im 5 weeks 5 days pregnant. Already i was on thyronorm 25 mg as i had tested positive for hypothyroidism earlier. but earlier when i had got myself tested abt 2 months back it was in normal range (2.5) so i continued thyronorm 25mg. After finding out today that my TSH had soared to 26 my gynae has put me on thyronorm 50 mg. although i have read that TSH gets high during preg but this high value is giving me sleepless nights. Is it possible that it has alr affected the feutus bcos woman wid high TSH have high risks of miscarriage or baby with abnormalities?? Since doctor has called me again after 2 weeks, im vvery stressed. pls pls help me
hypothyroidism during pregnancy is common ,please get it treated properly.it treated early & properly by your gynecologist it don't harm your baby.there is little increase in TSH during pregnancy.proper treatment by increasing the dose of thronorm or thyroxin is the only answer.

Thanks a lot for ur ans sir, this has relieved me. I hope increasing the dose from thyronorm 25 to 50 mcg was enough or would u sugget me to see some endo?
Dear madam: I am an endocrinologist and since your TSH is 26, your dose has to be increased to atleast 75mcg. Another thing of concern, it is unlikley for the TSH to shoot up to such a high level with a normal prepregnancy TSH. Just reconfirm your blood reports (Free T4 and TSH) before any changes are made.
Thanks 4 ur answer sir. the gynae has raised the dose to 50 mcg only and now im feeling i must consult an endocrinologist. oder than TSH, the gynae had also advised free T4 test and result has come out to be 0.826 while normal range in the report states 0.93-1.7. At this high TSH, since preg is alr 5weeks+5, do u think the harm has alr been done? i have alr lost 1 baby 3 months before, but that time my TSH was normal. after karotyping it was known that there was chromosomal disorder. but this time since TSH is 31 (i gave sample again in the same evening), do u think harm has alr been done? im really worried.
