5 Year Kid, Swimmer Ear, Infection. Rashes, Itching After Applying Safradex Eardrops. Allergy Or Overdose?

My 5 year old son has a swimmer ear, infection after swimming and didnt clean the water out properly. I used Safradex eardrops. But he developed rashes around this side of his ear that I used the eardrops. If this an allergic reaction? He said its very itchy when I put the drops in. I might have put it in a couple if drops too baby as he was wriggling around? Can this be the cause of the rashes?

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It seems an allergic reaction to the ear drops.

Ear infection requires oral antibiotics like amoxicillin in appropriate dosage.

His ear also should be examined by the doctor to look for any wax, infection in the external ear or middle ear infection.

I advise you to stop using the ear drops and consult the doctor for ear examination and medication for the infection and allergic rash.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
