5 Year Old. Vagina Different From Other Children. Is It Due To Sexual Abuse?
I recently adopted a 5year old girl and when I was bathing her I noticed her vagina looked very different from my other children when they were that age. It concerned me because she came fom a bad home and I was wondering if that was a sign she was sexully abused. She seems to be fearful of men and wets the bed a lot. How do I know? How do handle this situaton? Shes been through a horrible life and I dont want to cause her anymore trama or scare her and I have never experienced this before.
Hi
Thank you for your query
You should consult a pediatric surgeon. First thing is to rule out any anatomic anomaly. Many things can lead to such dribbling of urine. E.g, if she has a double ureter at some place, she will have this sort of complaint. She may have a common channel where her vagina and urethra are fused. And there are many more. A pediatric surgeon will be able to rule all that out. And then if all that is normal, it may be psychogenic. Fear from some past incident. Psychotherapy and some drugs will help her with that too. But most importantly a lot of love will help her rid of her previous bad experiences and i am sure you are providing her that
Hope that helps
God bless you
