5 Year Old, Cold And Cough, Throat Infection, Dry Lips, Red Skin On Legs, Losing Weight. Suggestions?

Hi. My 5 year old has been unwell for months now. Every 6 weeks he will have bad cough and cold. Doctors have put him on anti biotics, was on them for 5 days and then took him back to doctors, they put him back on anti biotics, went back 10 days later and he back on them again now with throat infection. Now he has really dry lips and red skin on his legs and under his eye is really red like he's been hit. Since nov he has losted 3 and half pound. How do I go about getting him a blood test?

Dear user,

Thank you for the question. I think he really needs a blood test, but also there is a need to review the way he is being treated repeatedly with antibiotics WITHOUT PROPER confirmation of what is happening. Such confirmation requires blood tests, a throat swab for bacterial culture, a chest X ray and other tests based on a clinical assessment. You could go back to his doctor and show him this answer and tell him to take a call on doing tests.
