Small infants can have frequency of motion ranging from 2-12 times/day to 1 time in 3-4 days. So there is wide variations in frequency. They are abnormal if these are watery with perianal rash, accompanied by mucus, blood or dehydration. Moreover, infants also have what is known as Gastro-colic reflex- i.e., everytime baby take feed he passes motion. Greenish motions are due to rapid transit of stool without adequate time for the bile (which is green) to turn to yellowish brown due to action of gut juices and bacteria. If stool examination is normal, it may be a normal finding. Further, if babies given less foof also have sometimes greensih stools. So your doctor is right. In fact sine now he is 6 months you can start weaning foods along with breast milk.
I hope this will solve your problem. please let me know if you need further help.
