7 Months Old Baby Has Lump And Fever
Hi, my nephew has a lump under his skin at the side of his bum crack . It is the size of a jelly bean. It is not red, it is the same as the rest of his skin and is under the skin. I guess you could almost call it a cyst perhaps. It was noticed yesterday. Today, it hurts upon palpation, and he now has a fever . It did not hurt yesterday. He is only 7 months old. What could this be?

Hi, did you find out what the lump was? if so could you enlighten me please, my 5 month old son has the same type of lump in what sounds like the same place. I've only just noticed it and it didn't seem to hurt him .

Hi,
If you are surethat even smallest begining of the lump is not since birth, please don't worry. All it needs is few antibiotics &other medicines .As the baby has feveralso- please take the baby to a children specialistthe earliest,for proper advice.&baby will be alright.
However paracetamol syrup 10 drops can be given to releave pain & fever till then.

How big is the swelling? was it present before? Has it suddenly presented? If You are not sure about it then it is advisable that you consult a pediatrician who would be able to examine the swelling and treat it at the earliest..

Hello, welcome to HCM. If it was not present since birth It could be a cyst which could have developed due to infection. You need to take the child to doctor as he definitely needs antibiotics and other medicines to get it cured. Wish him good health.
