70 Yrs. On Metformin. History Of Having Bacterial Infection. On Actenol For Tongue Cancer, Which The Doctor Suggested Against. Help

Am interested in a new Dr. that I have been transferred to and he has a degree after his name of D O He is wanting to change some of my medicines and take me off one that I have been taking for a problem I had with a bacterial infection and he says it is damaging my bones. I am also on Metformin and know I am not handling it as well as I should, but I am 70 years old, have had tongue cancer and cancer dr. says I should not take Actenol, but Dr. Nieves wants to change up assume of my meds and I am not sure about him or his attitude.

Hello

Thanks for the query

Actonel is not known to cause any interaction with metrformin, you can continue using metformin if your sugars are under control with it. Actonel is given for osteoporosis and weak bones, actonel should be stopped in case of hypercalcemia, please take a second opinion if you are uncomfortable with the doctor.

I hope I was of help

Regards
