71,female,with History Of Breast Cancer And Osteopenia. How Often Should Go For Gynaec, Pap Smear And Bone Density Followups?
I am 71 yrs. old, a 11 yr breast cancer survivor, diagnosed two years ago with osteopenia from bone density test, last pap smear was four yrs. ago in 2009. How often should a woman of my age and history have an exam by a gynecologist and a pap smear and bone density follow ups?
Hello, As you have diagnosed as Osteopenia by Bone mineral density test , it is better to have regular follow up at least once in three years. As you had breast cancer, you should have regular physical as well as complete physical examination once in 6 months. At the same visit, you can screen for pap smear also. If you fell any symptoms like vaginal bleeding, abnormal discharge or unusual tiredness or pain in breast or any other symptoms, you should consult your gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health
