Hello,

I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through right now.

I will start by asking if your diabetes is well controlled and secondly, whether there has been any recent changes in your insulin dosages . Also, are there any other drugs that you are taking beside this insulin?

Being unable to walk properly can be caused by several illnesses. Some of which include low blood sugar, nerve damage by diabetes(diabetic neuropathy), ear problems, drugs like sedatives, antihistaminics, tranquilizers etc. At times, we never really get to identify any cause.

My honest advice is that you should book an appointment with you treating physician for a comprehensive review. For the mean time, falls in an elderly like you can have far reaching consequences like fractures, head trauma and bleeding etc which are even more difficult to manage without avoiding complications.
Also, try not to walk unsupervised, use hand rails if available, walk with a cane, avoid heights, stairs and dangerous paths while pending to meet and figure out the details with you physician.

Hope this provide guidance and the answer you need. Feel free to come back for more information if need be.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
