75% Blockage In Widow Maker, Has Chest Pain And Shortness Of Breath Inspite Of Stent. Suggestions?
My sister is 50 and had a 75% blockage in her widow maker. They put in a stent but she still has chest pain and shortness of breath. Is it normal procedure to stent the widow maker. When I was 50 I had a heart attack . The widow maker was 100% block and two others were in the upper 90% s. Apparently we have heart disease in the family. Should she have gotten bypass instead of a stent?
Hi
Welcome to HCM,
Both of you have CAD (Coronary Artery Disease). Let me explain Angioplasty with placement of stent and Coronary artery Bypass surgery both are treatment modalities for re vascularization of heart both are equally good in properly selected patients like Multi vessel disease it is better to advise CABG as laso case with LMCA lesion.
If single vessel is involved and lesion is proximal and concentric Angioplasty with stent is good option.
If she has angina post procedure please visit your cardiologist there may be some other reason or blood flow may compromise due to re stenosis or thrombosis.
Please take care
Good Luck.
