77 Yrs. Burping, Belching, Nausea, Lightheadedness. On Treatment For Acid Reflux, High BP, High Cholesterol. Advice
I am 77 years old and am currently being treated for acid reflux, slightly high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Occasionally, and in the last several days, I have a lot of burping and belching and some nausea in the mornings or half the day, along with lightheadedness. What can I take to alleviate these symptoms?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. I would advise you following measures for your relief ( as we know diagnosis) , these includes. 1 Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks .It also migh help to avoid eating or drinking for 2-3 hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or spicy or greasy foods. Also take some antacid but if symptoms are severe then you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors. 2 Second reason of acid reflex is usually overeating so try to avoid it. 3 Tension is the most important reason of acid reflex , so consult a psychiatrist and get his consultation. Good luck. Dr. HET
